General Stats
Name: Roger Davis Age: 25 Birthday: November 15, 1966 Sexual Preference: I don't like to label my characters; he falls in love with who he falls in love with, despite gender, race, etc. etc. Love knows no boundaries and all that cheesy shit. Physical Appearance: Standing about 6’1”, Roger is thin from months of withdrawal and years of malnourishment. However, he appears stronger than he is, and remnants of muscles built up during his band years exist on his arms and legs. He has dark green eyes that seem almost as passionate as he is, expressing his every emotion. On his arms are scars from his days as a junkie and on his left arm a particularly long, developed scar slid down the middle of his arm from his suicide attempt during his withdrawal period.
Personality
Roger has a fiery, passionate personality. When he has emotions, he really experiences them. When he’s sad, he’s depressed. When he’s mad, he’s fuming. When he hurts, he bleeds. His temper easily flares up and he can be very jealous and over bearing even at times. His jealousy developed from years of people in his life betraying him. Roger can’t help but be protective to a sometimes-overwhelming extent of the people he cares about most. When he’s in love he falls far, deep, and hard. When he finally settles on devoting himself to someone or something, he does it with all of himself and doesn’t hold back, which both hurts and helps him.
Background
From the moment he was born, Roger Davis’ parent’s marriage proved to be as impulsive and passionate as Roger would later turn out to be. They were either fighting, screaming at the top of their lungs at each other or being so deeply in love that they didn’t go anywhere without holding hands and kissing. On Roger’s 11th birthday, however, his dad left his mom and him. He woke up that morning to his mother crying, and no dad in sight. Just a note that he left that read, ‘Goodbye’. Later in life he needed a place to stay and moved into the loft with Mark, Collins, and Benny. While on a gig with his band, The Well Hungarians, he met and fell for a beautiful girl named April. They did heroin together, something he had done a little on the side, but now it was their thing, they did it together; they fell deeply in love with it running through their veins. Everything was wonderful in his mind. Their band played at regular spots, he lived the life of a “real rock star” partying, getting high and drunk, having sex, enjoying the benefits of their slowly increasing fame within the area. But then one night he found April dead in the bathroom, another note that would change his life forever, ‘We’ve got AIDs’. If it weren’t for Mark he would’ve died that night too. With Mark’s help, Roger survived withdrawal and though he was depressed, he lived and focused on trying to write one great song to be remembered by. Then Mimi knocked on his door and asked him to light her candle; once again a beautiful girl completely changed his life. That Christmas Eve their group of friends developed the kind of tight family Roger never imagined being a part of. However, nothing lasts forever as he wished he would’ve remembered while enjoying all those good times. Roger and Mimi broke up, Angel died, Roger fought with Mark and ran away to Santa Fe. Weeks passed and he realized before he could unpack that he didn’t belong there. He belonged with the remnants of his family, with Mark, with Mimi, with Collins, Maureen, and Joanne back in NYC. He made the trip back to discover Mimi missing and though he searched for her, his attempts were all together unsuccessful. Then one fateful night, Joanne and Maureen discovered her on the streets, and as she died in his arms, Roger sang his song to her. Thanks to Angel, Mimi made a miraculous recovery. However one thing Roger knew no matter how hard he tried to deny it, his feelings for Mark went far deeper then for those of just a friend. He can’t remember exactly when his feelings changed, but he knew they had and he couldn’t continue lying to him. Roger however made a few choices that Christmas, after they had almost lost Mimi. While most of the choices revolved around Mimi and getting her into Rehab, no one really doubted the love he had for her. They however had under estimated the connection Mark and Roger shared. What started out as simple understanding and friendship, grew into something much more special. If anyone had asked years before if Mark and Roger would have ever ended up together, they probably would have been shunned and laughed at. No one thought anything of it at first, but as times pressed on; there wasn’t Mark without Roger and vice versa.
